You Don't Need To Change
I used to wake up every morning wondering why I was still alive. I didn't think I deserved anyone or anything.
People told me I was worthless, ugly, and too big.
I didn’t want to live, so I started cutting and self-harming in any way that I could because I thought I deserved it.
Later that summer, I decided I was going to try to change myself so I could fit in. I lost weight, and started wearing makeup.
I was ready for everyone to see the new me.
I got lots of compliments, but one comment truly stuck out from the rest. One guy said to me, "You look absolutely amazing, but why did you change yourself just because others didn’t like you?"
This comment stayed with me for a long time. It ultimately made me realize I didn’t need to change for anyone. Everyone is different, including me.
Today, that guy who changed my mind about how I see myself is my best friend.
We talk every day. He loves me and I love him. One person can change your mind.
If you are still waiting to be accepted, focus on yourself, and don't change for anyone.
